From the author: Hyperactivity disorder is most often a manifestation of MMD (minimal brain dysfunction). It manifests itself most clearly at 3-6 years old and requires serious complex treatment to cope with this problem by school age. Changing the color preference from red to blue through psychotherapy can help a child reduce hyperactivity.
Probably everyone knows about the role of the influence of color on mood and even on well-being through the influence of color on the nervous system. The “language” of flowers is international: it is not associated with either race or culture. Scientists have proven that even on animals, colors have the same effect as on humans. It has been experimentally established: blue color calms and reduces vegetative functions, red color excites – pulse and respiration become more frequent, blood pressure rises. The autonomic nervous system controls color stimulation, acting through the eyes on the diencephalon, from it on the pituitary gland. The state of excitation of the nerves corresponds to the frequency of vibrations in red , if the regulation of the autonomic nervous system is tuned to increase functional abilities. If the autonomic nervous system is set to slow down , calm down, then it corresponds to a dark blue color. It was on the basis of the influence of various colors on the autonomic nervous system that the Swiss psychiatrist and psychologist Max Luscher developed his famous color test .Link between hyperactivity in children and a preference for redAs the experience of observations shows, most often hyperactive children prefer red, which means a desire for active action, struggle, competition, the need for new stimuli. The second most preferred color is usually black, which in combination with red means compulsiveness , enhances the manifestation of red.The negative influence of black on red is explained by the fact that black, enhancing the effect of red, conveys the idea of non-being, disappearance, symbolizes refusal, complete renunciation and rejection.Hyperactive children who prefer red are generally referred to as blue as their unloved color . What does it mean? According to Max Luscher , rejection of the blue color with a preference for red in children can manifest itself in impaired concentration ability, learning difficulties, denotes an unmet need for stronger emotions, is a sign of an overstrain of the nervous system, which entails unbridled and uncontrollable behavior. Overcoming preference for red reduces hyperactivityOne of the methods of non-drug reduction of hyperactivity in children and adolescents is the author’s method of changing color preference , when, as a result of psychocorrection, there is a change in the perception of the preferred red and rejected blue. After children and adolescents begin to prefer blue and treat red in a neutral way, their attitude towards black can automatically change, which also becomes neutral for them. In some cases, it is necessary to additionally correct the perception of black, reducing it to neutral.Overcoming the preference for red and replacing it with blue in children and adolescents as a result of psychocorrection leads to a decrease in internal tension, general anxiety, hyperactivity, and improved sleep . Although instrumental studies of the brain before and after color preference psychotherapy were not carried out, the observations of parents and close people over the child’s behavior, subjective feelings and self-esteem of the child himself in relation to his internal tension, the results of projective tests indicated a clear decrease in tension and hyperactivity of the observed children and adolescents. The change in color preference in hyperactive children and adolescents of 8-13 years old was carried out in the conditions of the children’s psychoneurological sanatorium “Gorkoye Lake”. According to the results of the study, 80% of the observed began to call blue the preferred color, and 20% – both blue and red at the same time. The change in preference from red to blue was carried out by influencing the sensitive level of perception using NLP methods . Since stenic reactions are quite stable , the positive effect of color preference correction in order to reduce hyperactivity may be of great interest for using this method in complex psychotherapy and psychocorrection of children with hyperactivity and attention deficit. |
